"Hushiyaaru" (Preparedness) is a nationwide campaign to educate, raise awareness on climate-induced disaster risks, and enhance disaster preparedness in the Maldives. Spearheaded by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), in partnership with the Maldivian Red Crescent, the campaign aligns with the Government's vision of "Building a Disaster Resilient Maldives." As the lead coordination agency for disaster mitigation, planning, response, recovery, and risk reduction, NDMA seeks to unify stakeholders under a cohesive effort that empowers communities to prepare and respond effectively. Guided by Priority 4 of the Maldives Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy 2024–2030, Empowering Communities for Effective Response, the campaign integrates education, outreach, and engagement, combining traditional methods with digital platforms to mobilize communities and strengthen national resilience.
